WHAT IS HOME HOSTING?
Gunnedah Home Hosting programme is coordinated by the Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre to assist visitors and exhibitors to find accommodation during the busy AgQuip period. Home Hosting is a bed and light breakfast style accommodation service whereby clients are ‘billeted’ by local Gunnedah residents in their private homes.
Hosts provide visitors with a cozy bed, full linen and light breakfast (cereal, fruit, toast, tea /coffee/ juice) topped off with Country Hospitality! As a host you will be paid for your hospitality at a set rate devised by the Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre. And the best part is you will have the opportunity to meet really great people from all over Australia!
WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?
Home Hosts are asked to provide guests with:
- A cozy bed fitted with fresh linen and pillows
- Bed side table and lamp
- Clock Radio
- A place for guests to hang / store clothing and personal items
- Fresh towels daily
- Regardless of weather conditions please supply an electric blanket if you have one and a spare blanket on the foot of the bed
- A light breakfast each morning consisting of toast, fruit, tea/coffee and juice
NB: The breakfast menu is set at the discretion of the HOST with consideration given to guest dietary requirements. You may provide a breakfast menu of your choosing as long as the basics are provided.
NB: Lunch and Evening Meals are NOT included in the hosting package. Lunch and Dinner arrangements may be organised between the host and client directly with payment for these meals being made directly between Host and Guest. Generally we recommend $16 per person for a roast dinner style meal.
Please note: (Preference is given to those hosts who have spare room accommodation in their home that is not a child’s bedroom. Also, if your toilet facility is located in the bathroom then the number of guests that can be comfortably hosted at your home is restricted.).
Home and Content Insurance
ALL HOSTS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN HOME INURANCE. It is strongly recommended that you check with your own insurer as to your coverage in the event of an accident or theft involving Home Hosting clients (paying guests).
Home Inspections
To ensure guests have a quality experience, Gunnedah Home Hosting will need to conduct a brief Inspection of all new host homes and will be arranged at a suitable time with you. The duration of this inspection is 15 minutes in which time the Coordinator will need to see the bedrooms offered, bathroom and toilet facilities and will check the age and condition of the bed/bedding. All inspections are confidential and are conducted by one of the friendly staff of Gunnedah Home Hosting.
PAYMENT PARTICULARS
Hosts will be paid the following rates:

Gunnedah Home Hosting will receive payments from Guests prior to the commencement of their stay and will distribute cheque payments to Hosts. As a host you are not required to handle any money.
Hosts are welcome to collect cheque payments from the Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre on the following dates:

CANCELLATIONS
If a guest fails to show up for accommodation booked with you by Gunnedah Home Hosting then you will still receive a cancellation payment of $20.00 for each guest room booking. This payment is not applicable if we have been able to fill your accommodation with another company booking at the last minute.
Example of payment that you would receive for cancelled accommodation is:
1 Single room booked 2 nights = $40.00
1 Double room booked 3 nights = $60.00
Total payment you would receive for cancelled accommodation is $100.00
PREVIOUS GUESTS
All accommodation is to be booked through Gunnedah Home Hosting at the Visitors Centre. If a previous guest contacts you, please refer them to our office for reservations.
It is a condition of Home Hosting that you agree to accept whoever we book into your available accommodation, keeping in mind, that we will try to place the same company with you if they return and you wish to host that company again. On previous occasions clients have stated to the host that they will be back the following year and wish to stay with the same host again - often guests don’t return and this delay in securing your accommodation may result in other paying clients being turned away.
HOW CAN I REGISTER TO BE A HOST?
Online Registration
Go to the ONLINE REGISTRATION page, complete and submit the form. Your completed form will be sent to the Gunnedah Visitor Information for processing.
Once received Home Hosting will match your facilities and requirements with an appropriate guest. You will then be notified of your allocation(s) by mail and receive details of your guests(s). Guests are asked to contact HOSTS directly to introduce themselves and to advise of any special requirements (i.e. dietary requirements)

Please download the ‘HOST REGISTRATION’ PDF and FAX or MAIL your completed accommodation registration as quickly as possible. A prompt reply will increase your chances of securing a guest. Completed PDF Registrations can be faxed to 02 6740 2237 or mailed to Gunnedah Home Hosting, Po Box 63 GUNNEDAH NSW 2380.

HOSEKEEPING & NOTICES
- If you cannot host at all this year, simply tick the three NO boxes in Section 2, authorise and return the form.
- Insurance (Section 8): All hosts must have Home and Contents Insurance. It is strongly recommended that you check with your own insurer as to your coverage in the event of an accident or theft involving Home Hosting clients (paying guests).
- Home Inspections: We continue to inspect homes on a rotational basis. Please fill out (Section 5) for an indication of days and times your home will be available for an inspection. If your home has not been inspected for a couple of years or are a new Host, you will be consulted for a confirmed inspection date and time.
- Privacy Declaration: Please ensure you complete Section 7 on the registration form. If you do not wish us to disclose that information we may not be able to register you as a Host.
- Complete your ABN or tick the exemption box (Section 6).
- Please remember to sign the form (Section 9).
